Sommer’s Homes Inc. and Sommer’s Woodhaven Manufactured Home Community was established in 1946 by Arwin W. Sommer and his son Lloyd W. Sommer. The first home was sold that year and placed in the mobile home park located on Calumat Drive in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. In 1948, Sommer’s Homes Inc. became a dealer for Rollohome Corp, which was built in Marshfield, Wisconsin. In 1949, the first home was put in Sommer’s Woodhaven Manufactured Home Community at its present location on South 12th Street which was in the Town of Wilson during that time. Dale G. Sommer joined his father and grandfather full time in 1973 upon graduation from the University of Wisconsin River Falls. The property that Sommer’s Woodhaven Manufactured Home Community is located on was annixed to the City of Sheboygan in 1988. One hundred home sites were equipped with city sewer and water. Over the next three years the addition of 50 more sites were built in the old Stardust outdoor theater property.
We were a dealer with Rollohome Corp. until 1985 when Wick Building Systems bought out Rollohome Corp. We then continued as a dealer with Wick Building Systems until they closed the doors in 2008.
Travis D. Sommer joined his father and grandmother in 1996 after graduating from Sheboygan South High school. His grandmother, my mother, Mary Ann Sommer (wife of Lloyd Sommer), has been working in the office for the businesses since 1946 to present and with all 4 generations of the Sommer family.
